An Eaton resident is facing two fourth-degree felony charges for assaulting police officers following a March 1 altercation in Oxford.

According to criminal complaints filed March 3, the 19-year-old suspect struck multiple officers during a drunken encounter. One officer had seen the suspect’s car stuck on railroad tracks at an intersection and went to assist. The suspect was “found to be intoxicated” and “refused a breath test,” “then spat on and struck” an officer, according to one of the two criminal complaints filed. Later, at the Oxford Police Department (OPD) booking room, the complaint alleges that the suspect struck a different officer by “headbutting her in the face.”

A media report from OPD states that the suspect is also facing charges for consuming alcohol underage and driving while under the influence of alcohol. The suspect is not listed in Miami University’s online directory.

OPD issued nine additional citations to people related to underage drinking between Feb. 24 and March 3, according to the department’s weekly media report. One of those people also received a citation for driving under the influence after being found driving while intoxicated in the McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital parking lot March 2.

The department responded to two thefts in the same time period, one for a person who reported his keys as missing from under his doormat, and another for shoplifting at Kroger. On Feb. 25, officers responded to a report of an “active fight between three males” at Oxford Spirits.
