Eaton Road closed for emergency repairs through late August
A portion of Eaton Road will be closed starting July 17 for emergency bridge repairs after a routine bridge inspection revealed deteriorating conditions.
A portion of Eaton Road at the intersection of Hogue Road and Warwick Road and south of Four Mile Creek Road will be closed for 45 days starting July 17 for an emergency bridge deck repair, according to Butler County Engineer's Office (BCEO).
The road will be closed to all traffic for repairs south of Four Mile Creek Road and north of the Hogue Road/Warwick Road intersection. BCEO has given a tentative deadline of Aug. 30 to finish the emergency work.
Betsy Horton, BCEO public information specialist, said in an email to the Oxford Free Press that a routine bridge inspection brought to light the bridge's conditions. It had deteriorated over the years and needed new beams, a waterproof deck and resurfacing.
"We felt it was necessary to complete the project this year and were able to find a contractor who could perform the asphalt milling and resurfacing work immediately, rather than later in the construction season," Horton said in the email.
Horton added that residents living on Eaton Road will be accommodated with a detour.
Northbound Eaton Road traffic will detour west onto Beissinger Road, northwest on S.R. 177, east on Scott Road, south on Huston Road, and east on Taylor School Road. Southbound traffic will reverse this route, according to BCEO.
