Oxford resident Kathleen Stuckey Fox is partnering with several county organizations to refurbish a sundial memorial in Hamilton.

The sundial, located at the Soldiers’, Sailor’s and Pioneers’ Monument in Memorial Park, honors the memory of soldiers who fought for the Republic in the Civil War. It was dedicated in 1941, and Fox says it’s due for an update.

The City of Hamilton, Butler County Historical Society and Hamilton Garden Club are all a part of the committee to refurbish the memorial. Work will include shipping the sundial to Deer Park to be polished and have a patina applied, rotating the sundial 90 degrees so it reads the time correctly and installing a new pedestal.

To support the project, Fox and the committee are selling engraved bricks for $100 each. Fox says they’ve already sold more than half of the bricks needed. Engraved bricks can be purchased by visiting www.fundraisingbrick.com/butler or emailing Fox at foxks@miamioh.edu for more information.
