The Miami University soccer team returned home after a pair of road games, opening Mid American Conference play with a match against Northern Illinois University (5-1-2) on Sept. 19. Both teams came into the match with just one loss so far this season.

Both squads would remain with just one loss, as the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. At that point, Miami had posted five straight matches without a loss and a 4-1-3 record.

After a scoreless first half, the Huskies scored the first goal of the game in the opening minute of the second stanza. The 1-0 lead held up until the 75-minute mark when the Redhawks’ Jamie Hlebec scored on a rebound from a free kick.

On Sunday, the Redhawks traveled to Western Michigan and had their unbeaten streak snapped. The Redhawks dropped the MAC contest 6-0. They were scheduled to continue MAC play at Kent State on Thursday, Sept. 26 and will host Bowling Green on Sunday, Sept. 29.

Last year, the women’s soccer team finished the 2023 season with an 8-10-1 record overall and a 5-6 record in conference play.
