Obituary: Donald Gent

Donald Gent, age 91, passed away Friday Sept. 27, 2024. Don was born May 19, 1933, in Middlesboro, KY to the late Fred and Gladys (Ayers) Gent.

Don is survived by his wife Mary Rose Durbin; daughter Danette (Scott) Shuler; “Best Gal” Mary Beth (Chris) O’Dell; Grandchildren Stephanie (Denny Ramey) Shuler, Cliff (Michelle) Shuler, and Katie (Jamie Taylor) Colwell, and many great-grandchildren; two sisters Jean Peterson, Sandra (Roger) Garland; two brothers Johnny (Barbara) Gent, Fred (Barbara) Gent; two sisters-in-law, Jannas Shepherd-Nugent, Tammy (Mat) Hubbard, two brothers-in-law Johnny (Ruth) Kidd, and Randy Kidd; his dog Little Bit, and many other family and friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Loraine, four sisters, and four brothers.

Special thank you to his Queen City Hospice nurses, his special nurse angel Bree Ishmail, and special caregiver, sister-in-law Jannas. Don was a lifelong Christian devoted to the Lord. Don served in the US Army following High School, was an avid ball player in his younger days, active in Kiwanis Club, supported the O’Tucks, the Miami University Scholarship Fund, and many other charities.
