Lindsey Jane Zink, age 80, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2024, in Sarasota, Florida.  Born the first of two girls to Herbert and Lydia Wiepking on Jan. 20, 1944 in Oxford, Ohio.

She graduated from Talawanda High School as a member of the National Honor Society, and received the Outstanding Female Athlete Award. From there, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree from DePauw University and later received a Master’s Degree from Indiana University.

She began her career teaching at Eastwood Jr. High for two years, then became the Education Director for the Indianapolis Humane Society before going back to teaching high school Biology and Earth Science for 29 years. She was also an adjunct lecturer for Indiana University.

Lindsey’s memory is honored by her devoted husband Jim, her sister Marcia Haughey (Tom), her children Michael and Jason (Melissa); her grandchildren Spencer and Hadley, step son Terry (Shelia), step daughter Tammy (preceded in death), grandchildren Stephanie, Stasha and Starlina plus twelve great grandchildren.

In celebration of Lindsey’s life, a memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, 104 S Pineapple Ave., Sarasota, FL at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 9, with a reception to follow. After the reception, there will be a burial service at Sarasota National Cemetery at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Suncoast Technical College.
