Ohio citizens have until Oct. 7 to register to vote in the Nov. 5 election this year. Voters who are already registered but need to update their voter registration due to an address or name change are subject to the same deadline.

How to register to vote in Ohio

If you are a U.S. citizen, will be 18 years of age by November 5 and will have lived in Ohio for 30 days prior to Election Day, you are eligible to vote in Ohio and must register no later than Oct. 7 to vote in the November election.

  • If you HAVE an Ohio Driver’s License or Ohio ID: Register online at VoteOhio.gov.
  • If you DON’T have an Ohio Driver’s License or Ohio ID: You can use the last 4 digits of your social security number to register by completing a paper voter registration form. Go to VoteOhio.gov to print the form OR call the Butler County Board of Elections and have a form mailed to you. The Board of Elections can be reached at 513-887-3700.

How to update the address or name on your voter registration

If you are already registered to vote in Ohio but have moved or changed your name since the last time that you voted, you need to update your voter registration information no later than Oct. 7. Address changes can be made online at VoteOhio.gov. Name changes require completion of a paper form that can be printed from the VoteOhio.gov website or obtained from the Butler County Board of Elections.

If you’re registered to vote in Ohio but haven’t done so in several years, make sure that your voter registration is still active by going to VoteOhio.gov and clicking on the “Check Your Registration” link.

League of Women Voters of Oxford will publish our Voter Information Guide in late September, providing information on all candidates running for office, as well as information on the issues on the November ballot. We’ll have the guides at lots of public locations in Oxford and online on our LWVOxford.org website and on Vote411.org.

Don’t miss out! Make sure that you are registered to vote and get informed!
