The Oxford Police Department (OPD) responded to one vandalism report and one attempted vehicle theft in a mostly quiet week during Miami University’s spring break.

OPD officers responded to a vandalism report in Leonard Howell Park on March 24. Spray paint was found on multiple areas of the park’s property, and damages are estimated to amount to $500 or more. The police currently have no suspects.

In the parking lot of 5720 College Corner Pike, officers responded to an attempted vehicle theft on March 29. The vehicle was found to have damage that was consistent with an attempted theft, and officers are currently investigating the crime. The attempted theft comes after five car-related crimes on March 17 and 18.

With students out of town, OPD responded to one additional theft, a domestic violence incident and a “threatening phone call” between March 24 and March 31. The department’s weekly media report showed a significant decrease in criminal activity from the previous week.
