Oxford Free Press, other local orgs receive grants from Greater Oxford Community Foundation
The Greater Oxford Community Foundation awarded grants to more than a dozen local organizations to help with current initiatives. The foundation's next deadline to apply for grants is in December.
The Greater Oxford Community Foundation awarded more than $50,000 in grants to 15 local organizations this fall, including the Oxford Free Press.
The Free Press, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, received an $8,000 grant to assist with the costs of printing a weekly newspaper. The Free Press is primarily funded through independent donations from readers and distributes 1,500 copies of each issue at key locations in and around Oxford with the help of volunteers. The newspaper is free to readers, and all articles appear online at www.oxfreepress.com with no paywall.
The Interfaith Center received a $10,000 grant for a historic building presentation, while Habitat for Humanity got a $5,000 grant for its Reckford Woods development. Milford and Reily Township each received $4,500 grants for cemetery mapping projects.
In total, the foundation awarded $57,105 during its fall grant cycle. Other recipients included the Oxford Community Arts Center for several initiatives, Talawanda Middle School, Thread Up Oxford, HOPEfull Pastures Therapeutic Farm and more.
The deadline to apply for the Greater Oxford Community Foundation’s next grant cycle is Dec. 15, and grants are awarded to “programs that enhance the well-being of the Greater Oxford area,” according to a press release.
