The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Oct. 14. The Trustees approved financial reports for the month ending Sept. 30. Fiscal Officer Roger VanFrank presented a copy of the final approved audit from the Auditor of State.

Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that he finished crack sealing various roads for the season with the help of Reily Township road employees. Each year, the two townships trade work on this annual seasonal project, which is crucial to maintaining the long-term integrity of asphalt pavements.

Smith also reported that a fourth round of mowing is underway, and he will work on the annual maintenance and painting of salting equipment (blades and truck beds). Smith and his employee Dave Thompson also participated in the Butler County Engineer's Snowplow Rodeo on Oct. 24. This annual event is held to provide important skill refresher opportunities for county and township road employees before the start of snow season.

Police Department Administrative Assistant Tricia Powell reported for Chief Patrick Piccioni. In the past month, department activity included 158 calls for service, 13 of which were accident-related. Officers took 16 reports, made 23 traffic stops, issued 7 citations and made 3 arrests. The officers reported 19 instances of assisting neighboring police departments.

The Trustees signed the final version of a new 4-year contract with the City of Oxford for Fire and EMS protection for the unincorporated Township. Oxford Township will pay $200,000 per year for protection through 2028.

The next regular meeting of the Oxford Township Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11 at Township Hall. Virtual attendance is possible through the township website.
