Oxford Township plans roadwork, prepares to sign agreement for fire and EMS service
During a Sept. 9 meeting, the Oxford Township Trustees heard the final version of an agreement with the City of Oxford and Oxford Township for fire and EMS services.

The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 9. The Trustees approved financial reports for the month ending Aug. 31. Fiscal Officer Roger VanFrank presented a resolution to amend permanent resources and appropriations, a bookkeeping matter that formally acknowledges designation of specific funds.The trustees approved the resolution.
Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that the township would get access to a crack sealing machine during the week of Sept. 16. Smith will begin with crack sealing on Todd and Stilwell Beckett Roads. He has completed a third round of mowing and is replacing damaged guardrail sections and faded road signs.
Police Chief Patrick Piccioni reported recent department activity included 126 calls for service, 6 of which were accident-related. Officers took 10 reports, made 24 traffic stops and issued 8 citations. The officers reported 13 instances of assisting neighboring police departments.
Trustee Gary Salmon introduced the final version of a new agreement between the City of Oxford and the Township for Fire and EMS service. The Trustees accepted the form of agreement; a formal resolution accepting it will be introduced at the next meeting.
