The Oxford Township Board of Trustees held its regular monthly meeting on Aug. 12.  The Trustees approved the financial report for the month ending July 31 and heard Fiscal Officer Roger Van Frank's report on the recently completed bi-annual audit.

Following comments from five attendees, the Trustees determined that a bench to be installed at the cemetery on Brown Road will not include a plaque. A grant from Butler County Metro Parks will cover the cost of the bench and its installation.

Road Superintendent Johnny Smith reported that he has begun a third round of mowing Township rights-of-way and continues with weed eating around culverts and guardrails.  He hopes to begin crack sealing various roads in early September, depending upon availability of the machine.  He has completed culvert inspections, with the exception of a few that require assistance from the County Engineer's staff, who will provide camera inspection.  Culverts have been identified for near-future replacement or repair on Todd, Indian Ridge and Oxford Milford Roads and on Springwood Drive.

Police Chief Patrick Piccioni reported recent department activity included 139 calls for service, 11 of which were accident-related. Officers took 16 reports, made 13 traffic stops and issued 7 citations. The officers reported 27 instances of assisting neighboring police departments.

An application will be submitted to Butler Rural Electric Cooperative for their Community Connection grant program. The Township's application, if funded, will cover new computers for the Police Department and a new security camera system for the building.

The next regular meeting of the Oxford Township Trustees will be at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept.  9 at Township Hall. Virtual attendance is possible.
