Oxford woman dead after fatal car crash in Preble County

a 24-year-old woman died July 31 after crashing into a semi-truck on US-127 early in the morning. The Preble County Coroner's Office says it won't have full information for three to four weeks.

An Oxford woman died in a car crash early in the morning on July 31 after she struck the trailer of a northbound semi on US 127.

Taylor Hicks, the 24-year-old Toyota Scion driver, was pronounced dead on scene after being ejected from her vehicle, according to a press release from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office. The semi driver, a 54-year-old from Lawrenceburg, Indiana, did not suffer any injuries.

The crash was reported at approximately 3:45 a.m. on US 127, just south of Camden College Corner Road.

Hicks was transported to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office where
an autopsy will be performed to determine if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office said US 127 has reopened after it was closed for several hours during the investigation.

Camden-Somers Township Fire and EMS, Gasper Township Fire and EMS and the Ohio Department of Transportation assisted at the scene, according to the press release.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Preble County coroner’s office. An employee at the coroner's office said the office would not have any definitive information to share for three to four weeks..
