Students begin spring reporting internships with Oxford Free Press

The Oxford Free Press is pleased to welcome two new reporters, Chloe McKinney and Gina Roth, who are joining our team as interns this spring.

McKinney is a Miami University senior from Batavia double majoring in journalism and film studies. She began writing for The Miami Student, the university’s student newspaper, in 2022 and now serves as editor for Campus and Community, the paper’s largest section which focuses on news and local life. McKinney is passionate about revitalizing local journalism and focusing especially on local features.

Roth is a Miami senior from Springfield and Yellow Springs double majoring in journalism and individualized studies. She has previously written reported stories and columns for The Student and wrote for the Oxford Observer in fall 2024 with a focus on the election. Roth also has experience writing for The Cincinnati Herald and works as an undergraduate assistant and Western Center worker at Miami. She enjoys crocheting and watching Barbie movies in her free time.

Previous reporters for the Free Press include Austin Smith and Stella Powers, who worked as interns in fall 2024, and Taylor Stumbaugh, who worked as an intern in summer 2024.
