Talawanda Band to hold annual mattress sale fundraiser
The Talawanda Band is raising money through a mattress sale this year, with funds going toward student participation fees, new instruments and more.
The Talawanda Band is set to hold its fourth annual mattress sale fundraiser at Talawanda High School from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Aug. 10.
The sale will include 30 different mattress styles from brands including Tranquility Sleep Systems, Simmons Beuatyrest and more. All mattresses are priced below retail and available two to three weeks after the fundraiser, and each sale benefits the band directly.
Robbyn Abbitt, president of the Talawanda Band Boosters, said the mattress sale raised more than $3,600 for the band last year. That money went toward paying a portion of each student’s pay to participate fees, providing food during band camp, purchasing new instruments and more.
Custom Fundraising Solutions, the company partnering with Talawanda Band to host the sale, pioneered the mattress fundraiser in 2005. Today, the company works with more than 3,000 schools.
