Two new interns start at Oxford Free Press
The team at the Oxford Free Press is growing, with two new interns joining as reporters this fall.
The Oxford Free Press is pleased to welcome two new reporting interns, Stella Powers and Austin Smith, to our team this fall.
The Free Press’ first reporter, Taylor Stumbaugh, worked with the publication beginning in early June. Stumbaugh, a junior journalism and media and communication major at Miami University, is returning to The Miami Student this semester, where she works as the Senior Campus & Community Editor.
Powers and Smith, both sophomores and Assistant Campus & Community Editors at The Student, will work part-time as reporters for the Free Press throughout Miami’s fall semester.
Powers, a journalism major, began reporting for her high school newspaper in Wooster, Ohio. She has written various articles for The Student and wrote and edited for The Miami Student Magazine last spring. She’s especially interested in entertainment reporting and in writing profiles and sharing stories of people that might otherwise be overlooked.
Smith, a finance major with journalism and Chinese minors, writes for both Campus & Community and GreenHawks, The Student’s section dedicated to environmental coverage. He is especially focused on coverage of business and sustainability.
